About IRIS XR

IRIS XR is an industrial spatial intelligence platform built for Sterile Processing Departments (SPD) in hospitals and ambulatory surgical centers. Using proprietary computer vision models, IRIS XR recognizes surgical instruments on sight, delivers just-in-time sterilization guidance to technicians, and verifies that every tray is complete and properly sterilized before it reaches the operating room.

Sterile processing is the hidden bottleneck behind OR delays. Today, SPD technicians rely on memory, 50-page reference binders, and phone calls to medical device representatives to identify instruments, understand cleaning protocols, and confirm that trays are ready for surgery. When a single instrument is missing or a sterilization indicator goes unnoticed, surgeries are delayed or canceled — costing hospitals millions in lost revenue and putting patients at risk of surgical site infections.

IRIS XR replaces that manual, error-prone process with a computer vision system that sees and understands medical instruments the way a trained expert does. The workflow moves instrument by instrument, then tray by tray, giving technicians confidence at every step.

First, the technician presents a single instrument to the IRIS XR camera. Within roughly two seconds, the platform's computer vision models identify the instrument by shape, size, and distinguishing features — matching it against a trained library of surgical instruments and surfacing the correct name, manufacturer, and category on screen. No more flipping through binders or calling a rep to ask what something is.

Once identified, IRIS XR runs a 5–15 second debris detection protocol on that same instrument. The camera captures a short video pass over the instrument's surfaces, joints, and lumens, and the vision models flag any visible soil, bioburden, or residue that would compromise sterilization. The technician sees exactly where to re-clean, re-rinses or re-brushes as needed, and then re-scans to confirm the instrument is clean before moving on.

After each instrument is individually confirmed clean and identified, IRIS XR is used to scan the full tray. The platform verifies that every expected instrument is present and correctly placed, and critically checks for the sterilization indicator — the chemical or biological tag that confirms the tray actually went through a sterilization cycle. If an instrument is missing, misplaced, or the sterilization indicator is absent or failed, IRIS XR flags it immediately so the tray never reaches the OR incomplete.

Every scan — instrument-level and tray-level — generates an auditable digital record, giving hospitals a real-time view of throughput, compliance, and instrument-level accountability.

The platform is built for SPD managers, infection prevention teams, perioperative leaders, and medical device companies that need reliable, instrument-level visibility across the sterilization lifecycle. IRIS XR is developed by a founding team with deep experience in extended reality, AI commercialization, and clinical environments, backed by advisors who include hospital executives, practicing physicians, and 20-year SPD veterans. The company's intellectual property is protected by multiple pending patents covering its computer vision sterilization stack.
